5 Tips How To Get A Good Night’s Rest

When it comes to your personal health and wellness, sleep plays a huge role! I don’t know about you guys, but when I don’t get enough sleep I get cranky, over-emotional, and lose all productivity, but lack of sleep can lead to so many more symptoms such as reduced concentration, slower thinking, and much much more! To prevent this from happening we’ve created a list to help you all get a good night’s rest!

Tip #1: Stay In Bright Lights During the Day!

What you do during your day has a large impact on your circadian rhythm (or circadian cycle, regulates the sleep and wake cycle). One of these things includes staying in bright light (preferably natural sunlight) during the day. This tells your brain that it’s day time, and that it’s time to be alert further cementing your internal clock!

Tip #2: Exercise Regularly!

Try to exercise regularly, however, avoid exercising at night. Maintaining a good rhythm of exercise has been proven to enhance sleep and actually reduce symptoms of insomnia! Not only will it help you get a good night of rest, but it will also help you stay productive during the day.

Tip #3: Avoid Irregular or Length Daytime Naps!

Naps are necessarily bad, but when your body isn’t used to it, or you sleep for too long it can actually disrupt your internal clock and ruin sleep quality. In order to avoid this from happening, keep your naps at most 30 minutes long.

Tip #4: Get Rid of Blue-light at Night!

Blue light is not the best choice before bed. It can actually trick your brain into thinking it’s daytime, and can reduce your melatonin production. To make sure that you aren’t running into this problem, try getting rid of blue light at least an  half an hour to an hour before you expect to go to bed.

Tip #5: Sleep and Wake at Consistent Times!

Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule is so important. Not only should you be following this during the week, but you should also stick to your sleep schedule during the weekends. This means that you should try to avoid staying up later than usual, and sleeping in. This will aid in long-term sleep quality. Not doing this can actually disrupt your circadian rhythm and melatonin levels.

Those are our Top 5 Tips on How To Get A Good Night’s Rest. Let me know if you learned something new, or if there’s anything you think I missed! Sleep is so important to our overall health and wellbeing. Never underestimate the power of a good night of sleep!
